Despite having a membership to a 24-hour gym, Simon, like many of us, was finding it difficult to fit his training in around work and family. The answer? A home gym!
“I was inspired by many of the home gyms I had seen people build in lockdown during the COVID pandemic. I have a busy job and a young family and both my wife and I work shifts. As such, even though I had a membership to a 24/7 gym, I was struggling to get there with any regularity as I cannot leave my children unsupervised. So, I decided that I could convert the garage and work out at home.”
Simon saw the motivation to keep fit from home as not just a benefit to himself, but to his children also.
“My fitness goals were pretty much around building and maintaining decent muscle strength, feeling good and healthy and also providing a good example to my children. They both play rugby, and it is important for me that they see that exercise, fitness and dedication are as important as technique when it comes to success in sports as well as life.”
Choosing Fitness Superstore
Simon stopped by his nearest Fitness Superstore a few times prior to purchase to be sure he was investing in the right products for him.
“I spoke to staff in store a couple of times when I visited to try out the machines and I did a lot of painstaking research to ensure that I was getting the best products for my money and that everything would fit.
“I decided on a full set of the Body Power Pro Round Rubber Dumbbells (2.5-30kg) on a Body Power Dumbbell Rack, a Body Power Deluxe Utility Bench and a Body Power TITAN Multi-Functional Trainer. “

Being handy with a set of tools, he opted out of our installation service and decided to complete the build himself.
“The delivery was excellent, but I decided, as I am quite a handy person, not to use the installation service. I found assembling the multi-gym pretty straightforward and was able to do it in only a few hours.”
Since the creation of his home gym, Simon’s found his workout routine is more or less unchanged, thanks to his versatile equipment choices, and is already planning a new cardio addition.
“My workout routine before getting my home gym up and running was pretty similar, although I used machines dedicated to specific muscle groups in the commercial gym (especially with legs!) and this has meant that I have had to become creative in terms of what I do to get the same or similar results. I am also hoping to address the lack of cardio additions shortly with another purchase from Fitness Superstore.”
