Jenny Tong’s Home Gym
Jenny Tong – an English champion, British medallist and record-holding weightlifter – was after a dedicated training space at home for convenience and consistency in her training.
Jenny approached us to help get her home gym in shape, trusting our expertise to suggest the right equipment that suited the space she had, while also ensuring she had everything she needed to stay at the top of her game.
Jenny has some impressive aims for this year, which include campaigning for qualification to represent England at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
“I am starting my campaign to qualify for the Commonwealth Games – the qualification for this kicks off with the British Champs in July so the gym will be key to locking into training mode in the lead up to that.”
2026 wouldn’t be the first time she has competed for England, after battling and overcoming a serious injury three years earlier.
“I think my greatest achievement would be qualifying for and competing at the Commonwealth Championships in 2023 only 4 months after fully rupturing my ACL.”
Inside a weightlifter’s home gym
Obviously, as an accomplished weightlifter, a barbell and plate set was a must. The Body Power TITAN Teflon Competition Barbell was the bar of choice, accompanied by a pair of 5kg, 10kg, 15kg and 20kg Competition Bumper Plates plus a selection of Fractional Olympic Plates.
The Body Power Adjustable Width Squat Stand lets Jenny practise a lot of her lifts without taking up too much space, with a Body Power Heavy Duty Utility Bench as a solid platform for pressing movements.
Completing Jenny’s home gym collection was a selection of Body Power Rubber Hex Dumbbells alongside a pair of Drop Pads for impact protection.
